A cozy cabin retreat for rest and creativity
Firefly is a cozy rental cabin intended for rest and creativity, located in Tofte, MN. With a glimmer-sized view of Lake Superior, it is 90 mins north of Duluth, 30 mins south of Grand Marais. It is 1 block from Coho Cafe and Blue Fin Bay Resort where you can literally hop-skip-jump to Lake Superior's Public Access walkways, including a stunning rocky beach, as well as enjoy breakfast/lunch/dessert at Coho Cafe, and happy hour/dinner/music/seasonal fire pits at Blue Fin Bay Resort and Restaurant. There is also a combination gas station/liquor store and a stocked grocery store with meat/fish/produce, and any convenience you could possibly need. This little Firefly cabin is also on the main Sawbill Trail road leading to Boundary Waters Canoe Area, across the street from a Superior biking trail, and 20 miles from Lutsen Ski resort.
Perfect for solo adventures and couples, this is a prime little spot for jumping off into adventure, and also a perfect cozy cabin to tuck into. The cabin is a beautifully crafted 16'x16' timber frame that sits on 2 acres of private land with parking next to the cabin. Firefly has surrounding windows with a view of Lake Superior, pine forest, and wildflowers come summertime. There is a queen-size bed, a kitchen equipped for cooking, a dining/work table, two comfy lounge chairs, an indoor gas fireplace with a thermostat, an outdoor grill and fire pit (seasonal), and a super cute outhouse (heat lamp linked to internal cabin flip switch, and yoga mat toilet seat during the winter time to prevent a frozen bum!).
There is a fresh water well and 2-gallon water jugs that you fill and bring into the cabin. The jugs have a spigot and serve as faucets over the kitchen sink making it easy to clean dishes/self-wash etc. It empties into a grey water bucket under the sink which is dumped when full.
A SAUNA was added April 2020, with a shower bucket inside, so you can take a sauna or heat the room and take a nice warm bucket shower.
There's also POOL/HOT TUB/SAUNA/SHOWER access at local hotels: You can pay $5 for access to pool/sauna/hot tub/showers at Lutsen Resort (9 mi), or Americinn (0.5 mi away!).
